Bugs and I decided to stay up to watch the lunar eclipse the other night.

This was what we had been led to expect.

We didn’t in fact see anything like this.  What we did see was pretty marvelous just the same.  The early-winter sky was perfectly clear and that headlight moon was on high beam.  Stunning silver.

The little slice of lunar action happening over at our place didn’t seem all that unusual. We looked, at the time we expected that big orange ball.  But we just saw the plain white full moon.  The riot of white light happening at 2:00, when we first looked, might have been a little dimmed when we looked at 4:00 – but it didn’t seem eclipsed so much as blurred, a little, by the penumbra of an icy cloud that wrapped itself around the moon at some point in there.

The moon continued to set without us.  We went back to sleep.

But by the time dawn arrived, that frosty cloud had laid itself down all around us.

It was bone-chilling.

Come on, Bugs, we got to shut this door.  It is too cold out there.

But talk about yin and yang . . . .

Later That Day

It was glorious gold.

In this next shot, don’t you think Bugsy looks like ChairCat of The Board?  Clearing his throat, before informing the Banksters that unless they give him a better interest rate, he intends to — and he will — move corporate assets offshore.

Occupy Bugster!

  1. I think Bugs just wants a cuddle on those comfy fleece PJ’s 🙂 Glad you tried to catch the eclipse anyhow, it’s always a little adventure!

  2. nadbugs says:

My Spideys, you are a dreamer. He is doing cuddling only on caprice. Which means: Once in a blue moon.

  3. Uh-oh! Bugs slipped and allowed us all to see his true power. I suspect The ChairCat is plotting a takeover of some sort. I know JhaJha is in on it. An intimidating force, to be sure.

Maybe he’ll try to deflect our suspicions by allowing a little cuddle.
    Maybe not.

To be reckoned with, our two. I’m going to check the wildebeest futures. Bet you they’re buying them up right about now.

  5. lahgitana says:

Oh he’s regal! Sir Bugs! Sir Bugs A Lot! Sir Bugsy!

You got to see that full moon!

We got to see the moon go to totality and it DID become pale Siena. Ahhh… We saw totality for at least the 1/2-hour it stayed, and only then did the clouds move in!

  6. Dianda says:

    “Occupy Bugster” Hahaha!

  7. Wazeau says:

He does have a certain smugness on his mug in that last photo!

    • nadbugs says:

The Mug of Smug Ness. I like it. When he gets co-opted away from the Movement by the Queen offering him a title on the next Honours List, we can suggest this to him for the title. BugsMug, Laird of Smug Ness. Not far from Loch Ness. Or, as Lahgitana suggests, Sir BugsALot. Of Pitlochrie. The choice would be up to Bugs.

  8. Bugs, ya can’t let the Bean see your Super Powers Look! Maintain, my man…maintain!

  9. Alexandra says:

Wonderful story 🙂 You have a very good style when you talk about things. I think I would be able to recognize your text without your name next to it.
How old is Bugs? Is there a story about how he got his name or it just happened naturally?

  10. nadbugs says:

Happiness reigns, when you appreciate the text!! Wow, really that does make my day! Bugs is around 2.5 years old — and here’s the story behind his name. Please enjoy, as I enjoy your blog so much too.

Chaircat of the Board, Egyptian Pharaoh (Phacat?) he could be any number of things with THAT regal pose. The moon looks beautiful, even if you didn’t see it go red – I love the night sky, when I can stay awake long enough to enjoy it!

And I’m with Alexandra! Your writing style is a joy to read, and I always look forward to your posting updates.

Hi Melanie! It’s been too long. I need to nip over and see what you’re up to. It’s harder for me to get to blogspot friends, mope — Phat-cat, more like? And you get your beauty-rest. I shouldn’t have done this. My sleep-schedule is all out of whack now and I’m coming down with a cold. Mope. The very best tonic I could hope for, though, is your appreciation. Which I hope you know I reciprocate, so much.

  12. littlemiao says:

beautiful moon! I mistimed the eclipse thing, but I did get to see the full moon, we had clear skies for a change.

Bugs is so handsome. He doesn’t need a bow-tie like my Miaolings to make him a serious ChairCat. That intensely golden expression is not to be meddled with.

  13. ameowlife says:

This last picture is just adorable! beautiful 🙂

  14. Helloooo… Can Bugs come out and play? I’ve been missing his cute little nose.
