Paddling in De Nile

The more I see of this grooming behavior, the clearer it seems that Bugs is expressing assertiveness, not necessarily affection.  The pattern is that Fang will be occupying one of Bugs’s favorite spots.  Bugs will lope up, stand over Fang, and commence grooming vigorously.  Fang will tolerate this up to a point.  Then he will lash out suddenly – and let the games begin.

So those of us who long to find love in these images, let’s just go right ahead and do so – just knowing we’re probably making things up, more or less.

I need this.  Fang has to go back to the vet.  There’s a tiny bit of bloody discharge from his left eye, and yesterday he threw up again.  I think this may be connected to his URI and the antibiotics I’m still giving him –

So let us turn our thoughts to love.  And while away a little more time paddling around in de Nile.

The boys watching OutTV together.  Sometimes they aren’t duking it out – well, most times.

If I’m honest.

About nadbugs

Anita loves cats. This must be because she, too, has had nine lives. She’s been dancing since she could walk, she was a commercial artist and advertising producer, she earned a third-degree black belt in Aikido, she is a drummer with the Afrique Aya Dance Company, she is an attorney, and she’s a meditator and a devoted student of Nonviolent Communication. She also spent one lifetime sidelined with a devastating back injury in 1992. Since then – FELDENKRAIS METHOD® to the rescue. The FELDENKRAIS METHOD is all about dreaming concretely – thinking intelligently and independently by way of a gracious and kind physicality. The work affords all who study it a process by which to reach, with movement, into the mind and the heart, to make nine lives into one whole being.

I think it is generally believed that one cat grooming another is dominant behaviour…although I think the pics are cute 🙂 Hope everything will be okay with Fang and the vet can help his eye.

I’m going with the general belief. But they are so cute, aren’t they. Thank you for the good wishes about Fang’s eye. We’re watching it. No pun intended.

  2. Dianda says:

I hope everything is alright with Fang, and that he’ll feel better!

  3. Ivy says:

Poor Fangie! Good luck at the vet, let us know how that goes!

    • nadbugs says:

Poor guy indeed. He’s had some really rough patches. Hopefully his physical condition is improving. But Bugs is seeing to it that the rough patches aren’t over with. Yet.

  4. At least Bugs isn’t doing the “humpa-humpa” dance on Fangie…we have THAT goin’ on here…Johnson really loves him some Scouty.

    *sigh*

Fingers crossed for Fang’s vet visit.
