How Much Is Enough?

That’s what’s got my goat, this dark rainy morning.

We need rain – but too much, like last year, is just plain scary.

We need self-confidence – but too much, and we lapse into arrogance.

We need freedom and autonomy – but too much, and we take the bit between our teeth and ride roughshod over others.

We need company, to help us widen our perspective beyond the ends of our noses – but meddling and interference from others is intolerable.

Intolerable, I say!

Play is good –

– but too much —

— and it degenerates.

It’s a fine line.

About nadbugs

Anita loves cats. This must be because she, too, has had nine lives. She’s been dancing since she could walk, she was a commercial artist and advertising producer, she earned a third-degree black belt in Aikido, she is a drummer with the Afrique Aya Dance Company, she is an attorney, and she’s a meditator and a devoted student of Nonviolent Communication. She also spent one lifetime sidelined with a devastating back injury in 1992. Since then – FELDENKRAIS METHOD® to the rescue. The FELDENKRAIS METHOD is all about dreaming concretely – thinking intelligently and independently by way of a gracious and kind physicality. The work affords all who study it a process by which to reach, with movement, into the mind and the heart, to make nine lives into one whole being.

  1. looks like fun to us 😉

  2. But one that occasionally MUST be crossed, I’m afraid. What can I say?

  3. yeah, but they are cats… They dont think of the line where you think of the line.. they think they’re having fun, and maybe occasionally working on the top cat bit, but overall they’re having tons of fun. Being human, we see it as fights… I think we should look at it from a kitty view. If they have a line, they jump over it at will and go back to being buddies at the snap of a finger, or twitch of a tail.

  4. CATachresis says:

Cats have no idea how to draw anything, let alone a line! lol Despite the humour, a thoughtful post 🙂

  5. Everything in moderation, but be especially moderate with the meddling and the rain… We got a few feet of rain this week and we’re expecting another few feet, if you’d like to borrow some. A moderate amount, I mean…
