On this doleful anniversary — a high note over here.
Bugsy honed his door-leaping skills again this morning, for which he is justly famous. Here’s an archive shot:
Barney watched.
Next thing I knew:
He scooted up the back way. Amazing.
Lordy. How the heck am I going to get down?
Look out below!
About nadbugs
Anita loves cats. This must be because she, too, has had nine lives. She’s been dancing since she could walk, she was a commercial artist and advertising producer, she earned a third-degree black belt in Aikido, she is a drummer with the Afrique Aya Dance Company, she is an attorney, and she’s a meditator and a devoted student of Nonviolent Communication. She also spent one lifetime sidelined with a devastating back injury in 1992. Since then – FELDENKRAIS METHOD® to the rescue. The FELDENKRAIS METHOD is all about dreaming concretely – thinking intelligently and independently by way of a gracious and kind physicality. The work affords all who study it a process by which to reach, with movement, into the mind and the heart, to make nine lives into one whole being.
Oh my goodness! How do they get up there? And did you totally flip out? I would, MOL!! Barney has that look that says “I think I bit off more than I can chew..”
I did totally flip out, the first time Bugsy pulled off that stunt. I should probably go back and find the post where I wrote about it the first time. Would be fun. I just couldn’t believe my eyes! And you are so right, Andrea — that look in Barney’s eyes! Priceless.
Ah yes. It all comes back now. Here’s my first post, and then read the next one, too, if you have time and want a laugh. https://catself.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/bugs-aims-high/
Oh Barney, you’re just like Hammy! Everything that Bugs does, you have to do too (Rumblemum says it’s very cute!)
So it seems!
Right on, Bugsy! You are training him well!
Barney is a great guy, a willing student. But I think — hope? — he’ll have the last word on what he knows best: Enlightenment.
Just adorable… Your new baby is GORGEOUS, too. ♥
He is, isn’t he. I so wish you could see him in person. He is simply scrumptious.
Hee hee…. Bugs is teaching the new guy some of his tricks! 🙂
Don’t you think it’s amazing? I do!
You go guys!
Purrs
Never a dull moment around here.
Was there a THUD when he landed?!
Bugsy might channel Fangie tricks like the Chest Compression Carom. ruh-roh!
hee hee: “death-defying feets”!
Lord! Like an earthquake. I was worried (natch, it wouldn’t be me without worry) about him hurting his joints. But you know what? He aimed for the small carpet square & he landed right on it! What a genius. Oh yes, let us PRAY he does not catch me in a Fangie Chest-Compression Carom. Damage would be done!
Hah. You spotted that awful pun. I should have known it wouldn’t get by dear you.
Great scalator!
Really!
Bet he made a thud on landing…
I am waiting for the day when we are amazed to weigh him. (Bet he’ll lose weight, though, on the diet here . . . . Hope so.)
When they leap to those heights, they appear to be flying.
Very true. Flying squirrels! Actually, you’ve given me an idea. I have one of the coolest T-shirts ever, which I bought in Japan. I need to get a picture of it and add it to this post. Thank you Anne!
Please be careful! Would you believe mom actually PUT the one who camed before me on the door. Ol Smarty jumped on the vanity by the door and then down. But no one has ever gone up a door like that here. By that I mean ME.
Sorry, 19 is too old to try.
I SHOULD SAY SO. Actually if you ask me, I think one year old is too old. Gave me the colly-wobbles!
Being bounced on by Barney is no fun! lol
Really. Wide load!
I wonder, do they get up there with just one jump..? Or do they first go on something else, and then jump up there?
Dianda, they go straight up the door. You can see from the first post I wrote (check my answer to Andrea’s comment above) that Bugsy uses the windows in the door as a foothold for purchase — but that’s it! With just that one assist, they go straight up the door. And Barney’s feat was even more amazing, because he went up the *back* of the door — so there was essentially no space at all to maneuver in. These cats are geniuses!
They are real acrobats…
Phenomenal. Honestly, if I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it.
TOO funny, Anita!! So happy the boys are keeping you entertained and your mind somewhat off more somber thoughts.
Thank you, Marcy. They are such rascals, it’s hard to keep a straight face. But you know me — I can still do it!
You both are an amazing couple. I’ve never seen this acrobatic stunt before. I’ll hide this pictures from Little Binky, she would get some ideas…
That sounds like a good notion. These aerobatics are for the big boys.
oh my! my kittycat Star also loves doing that stunt.. one of her favorite spot is up there on the door where she could get a good view of the birdies visiting my garden.
