. . . for an incongruously early winter storm to hit. These days the weather is weird. You may have seen your own manifestation of that, where you live.
Here, we’ve had a series of weather catastrophes over the years. Nothing like the Philippines, or Sandy, but, still, major disruptions. Hanging like a shadow in the mind.
The great ice storm of 2009. Frozen solid, no power in the house for over a week and temperatures in the single digits. This one made Wikipedia. According to which, over 300,000 residences in our Northwest Arkansas area were hit like this. You don’t forget an experience like that in a hurry. (Arkansas. In the South, right?)
Didn’t have any feline kids to care for then. Not sure what we’d do now. Am not really wanting to think about it.
Two years ago, when we were facing another one of these, I wrote about it here. And then we got hit – twice, in rapid succession.
So yesterday it was sunny and in the ‘70’s.
Until it wasn’t. And now it’s a dark and murky morning. I’m listening for the first tickle of sleet, to drag its icy claw down the spine. Thought I’d better get a post up now, in case the power goes out and we have to make a run for it. Somewhere.
In other related news, went for a hike, to burn off Thanksgiving, in our splendid and precious Ozarks.

It was in the ‘70’s that day, too. Except for when it wasn’t.
Ice hanging off the bluff, photos in real time by yours truly.
The boys don’t know from all this, however. They are – themselves.
Next here’s Barney, after a generous hit of Kim’s Special Reserve Organic Nippatini.
I’ll tell you one thing we don’t have to wait for any more. The bar results.
I made it. I’m in!
* * * OY!!! It’s started, just as I write now. * * *
Cellphone’s ringing. Better move the car to safer quarters. Wish us luck.
We’ll take fall in the beautiful Ozarks (mommy grew up in Missouri, no where near the Ozarks, but there were beautiful bluffs and lovey rivers (when they didn’t flood). We just had three days of snow in Minnesota, and now a lovely cold snap. Brrrrr!
Oh, and concats on your exams. We just knew you would be successful!!!!!!
Oh my, the second photo is like my Nelson!!!!!
Concats on passing the bar. We thought possibly we had missed that announcement. Mom says the Ozarks are really gorgeous. She and our dad used to visit the area (way before our time) when he was in law school at UMKC. Today, in southwest VA, we are supposed to have temps at 65 degrees, an ice storm on Sunday and highs in the low 30’s after that. It already is turning out to be a crazy winter (and it is only fall). Those napping positions look like the purrfect thing for a lousy weather day. Good luck with the electricity. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
So happy that all of your hard work has paid off. Good wishes with the weather – here in the Philadelphia area we are still mildish although possible snow/ice Sunday. Living in the south as you do should not be so chancy! The kitty pictures are fabulous…………
Congratulations!!! And good luck with the storm 😉
We had an ice storm in 98, in Maine of all places, where you kinda expect it, which I still remember vividly, as does everyone else who was around at the time, you simply have to mention the ice storm, and they all know what you are talking about.
Congrats on passing the exam!! Never doubted you wouldn’t pass. The boys look wonderful. Perhaps now we’ll see more of them?
Woo hoo, huge congratulations!!! We never doubted you’d get in. Even your pansies are happy. Purrs to the boys from ours. It’s rainy but weirdly warm today and NO snow yet in NY.
I heard about the weird weather you’ve been having in your area. But… who cares – YOU MADE THE BAR!!!! A HUGE congratulations for your accomplishment!
YAY! Concats on the bar!! No doubt EVER in my mind that you would do nothing BUT PASS!
Congrats!
Congratulations on passing the bar!
Already checked the weather reports for your area this morning – my dad is in Nothern Arkansas. Doesn’t seem to be a repeat of 2009, yet. Whew…
Woo hoo well done you! Hope you are all staying safe!
Congratulations!
Hope you’re getting through the weather well!
I LOVE that picture of Barney on his back in the ess!
Well, it’s all happening in your neck of the mountains!! ConCats on getting the through the bar 🙂 Does this mean the drinks are on you? 😉 I hope by now the inclement weather has become more clement!! 🙂
