Blog-friends dear ones all: The relationship is under construction. The saga continues. Bean watched another episode of Cesar last night. This one really helped.
It seems to be all about two things: Timing, and carving out the personal space.
We’ve made huge strides on the timing thing. Again Bugs waited until Bean was awake to commence Red-Weapon exercises. So Bean’s very very very grateful about that. Not much can be done in the timing area when one’s sleeping.
So this time Bean could be ready.
Remembering Cesar’s advice to keep the stimulation-level down in the green zone. Remembering Cesar applying that principle, and refusing to let BeBe the Bulldog anywhere even remotely near the trouble-area.
So the INSTANT Bean saw Red-Weapon synapses beginning to square up behind Bugs’s beady yellow eyes, Bean did the pointy-finger and the Cesar-SHH thing.
It took a couple of reps — y’all have noticed, this guy is determined. Persistent.
SHH.
SHH.
But it WORKED.
Here’s where he ended up.
By Bean’s side. Quietly.
He acted up again — but Bean firmly pointed and said: GO.
He wouldn’t — so Bean covered him up with a pillow.
Poof. Gone.
Who’s more determined. Bean or Bugs.
Although I’m not sure this is the relationship with the squirt-bottle that we’re looking for.
Stay tuned.
Wow! That’s brilliant. Well done you! This sounds like a real break-through for you both. I’m so pleased for you.
I haven’t seen that show. Is it like Super Nanny but for dogs instead of kids?
Exactly like that. It is X-cellent. And thanks for the kudos. [bowing modestly] [insanely happy] [bracing for next impact].
Way to go!!!
Oh thank you, Sara. I walked around high all day yesterday. And today the process continues to evolve. Keeps me on my toes, that’s for sure.
